General Questions

What is Cyprus?

Cyprus is a turn-based territory game for 2–6 players that runs in your browser at cyprus.ramkprasanna.com. Over nine turns you take missions and hexes with dice you build yourself, then rebuild those dice every night at the workbench.

Is it free?

Yes. There is nothing to buy in the game.

What do I need to play?

Any modern browser on a phone, tablet, or computer. There is nothing to install. Everyone in a game needs their own device.

Is this finished?

No. Cyprus is an early playtest build and the rules will change, sometimes a lot, between visits. If something felt pointless or confusing, that is exactly the feedback I want.

Getting Started

How do I sign in?

Two ways. Sign in with Google gives you a persistent identity, so your name and games follow you across devices. Play as guest creates a seat on the current device only, which is handy for a second player at the table.

How do I play with friends?

  1. One person signs in and taps New game.
  2. The lobby shows a five-letter code. Share it.
  3. Everyone else signs in, enters the code, and taps Join.
  4. Each player picks a starting dice kit; the host starts the match once everyone has picked.

Can I join a game that already started?

Not in this build. If you refresh or lose connection during a match you started in, you can reopen the same link and pick up where you were.

Playing

Which mode should we play?

The Table is the current game and the default. Classic is the earlier day/night version, kept so you can compare. The host picks in the lobby.

How does a round of The Table work?

Three jobs are dealt face-up: two hexes from the map and one contract. Everyone rolls their whole dice pool at once, in the open. Then everyone commits in secret and at the same time: assign dice to jobs, reroll your unassigned dice for one Heat if you like, and lock in. Rivals see your first roll but not where your dice went or whether you rerolled. When everyone has locked, all commits are revealed together. The highest committed total on each job takes it, as long as it meets the job's minimum bid. Second place on a hex earns a little reputation, and everyone who lost a fight earns Heat. Seven rounds; the District is the only job in the final round.

What is Heat?

Your reroll currency. You start with two, earn one for every job you commit to and lose, and spend one to reroll all your uncommitted dice on your turn. It caps at five.

What are crits?

When a die lands on its highest face it explodes: it rolls again and adds the result, up to two extra times. A die's total shows its chain (for example 5+2) so everyone can see it happened.

What happens on ties?

The bid made with fewer dice wins. If that is tied too, the player holding fewer hexes wins. If it is still tied, it is a standoff: nobody takes the job and the tied bidders earn Heat.

What is the workbench?

After each round you spend gold. Core augments (add a face, raise a face, double a face, and so on) are always in stock, with the price doubling each time you buy the same one in a night. The Row is four shared offers that every player sees; the first to buy one takes it. From round two, one of the four is a keystone, a once-per-game upgrade that defines a build.

Can I add bots?

Yes. In the lobby the host can add up to five bots. They play instantly on their turns, so a solo game moves at your pace.

How is the winner decided?

After the final round, each player scores the influence value of the hexes they hold plus half their reputation. Ties go to the higher reputation, then the more gold.

Troubleshooting

Google sign-in fails

Pop-ups must be allowed for the site. If the pop-up opens and then errors, please email me the message shown.

My game is stuck waiting on someone

The game only advances when every player has acted. Check that each player has locked in their day action, acknowledged the results, or tapped Done for the night.

Where is my data stored?

Games are stored in the cloud so all players see the same table. Signing in with Google stores your display name and profile picture with your game record. Guest seats store nothing beyond the current device.
