This is the support page for Best to Worst, a pass-the-phone ranking game for groups.

How to play

  1. Add everyone who is playing. Names from earlier games show up as quick-add chips.
  2. On your turn you get five random things, each from a different kind. You might be ranking pizza against Mondays.
  3. Swap words you don't like with your re-rolls (two per turn by default). You can spend both on the same word.
  4. Drag the five from best to worst, or use the up and down arrows, and lock it in.
  5. Pass the phone to the group. They talk it over and put the same five in the order they think you chose.
  6. The reveal goes from worst to best. Each word in the exact spot is worth 5 points, one spot off is 3, two spots off is 1.

Everyone plays as one team. At the end you see the total score and who was easiest and hardest to read.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the game settings?

Yes. On the New Game screen you can set the number of re-rolls per turn, a discussion timer for the group, and how many laps everyone plays.

What are the word pools?

Normal, Food & Drink, Pop Culture and Chaos are for everyone. Intimate and After Hours are for adults and stay locked until you confirm everyone playing is 18 or older.

Can I add my own words?

Yes. Open Word pools to add, edit or delete words in any pool, or make your own pool. Each word has a kind, and a hand never has two words of the same kind.

How do I share words with friends?

In Word pools, tap the share button to send one pool or all of your own words as a file. Your friends open the file and import it with the import button. Imported words are added to what they already have.

How do I restore a built-in pool?

Open the pool and tap "Restore built-in words". This undoes your changes to that pool. Your own pools are not affected.

Privacy

Best to Worst does not collect, store or send any personal data. There are no accounts, ads or analytics. Player names, your words, settings and game history are saved only on your device. Files you share go only where you send them. The app downloads updates to its own content from Expo's update service, which receives no personal information.
